The event for 70 managers was scheduled for the beginning of April; the theme and programme were in place. Then along came the coronavirus. Now what? PostFinance took a brave decision and within three weeks had set up a digital event in the virtual conference room.

The topic was an ambitious one: it was about nothing less than the launch of new leadership principles – something that cannot be conveyed with a simple ‘conference call’. So the PostFinance team, supported by Farner and an event agency, developed an ambitious programme that included online experiences, a plenary discussion and break-outs for in-depth exploration.

“The experiment was worthwhile,” says Susanne Hählen, Project Manager of ChangeKomm at PostFinance. “The feedback of the participants was thoroughly positive – in some cases almost euphoric.” PostFinance is now working to draw maximum benefit from the ‘digitisation boost’ forced upon them. Follow-up meetings to anchor the leadership principles are currently taking place in the virtual event room. And the next management event in June will be planned in all-digital form right from the start.
