Trainings for leadership communication
Skyguide
I expected a boring theoretical training. I was positively surprised that we could apply all the methods during the training directly to real business challenges I encounter every day.

The Challenge
As a as leading air traffic controller, Skyguide undergoes constant change. The newly launched strategy should now be expressed to and lived by the whole company. Since Skyguide’s managers play a crucial role in translating the strategy to their teams and act as chance facilitators and ambassadors they shall be trained on effective leadership communication.
The Solution
All Skyguide managers who lead at least one person are being trained in groups of no more than 10 people. The training combines communication theory and business practice so the theoretical input can directly be applied on day-to-day business challenges. Overall goals of the trainings are:
- deepen the understanding of how good leadership communication can support change
- reflect the managers role as a key communicator and change agent
- reflect on each and everyone’s individual communication style
- learn how high-level strategy information can be translated into concrete messages for the team
The success
By bringing together people from middle management, executive board and internal communications in the trainings, all participants can benefit from the know-how exchange. Furthermore, all managers get the possibility to speak, present, train and get feedback from their peers and from communication experts on their presentation and communication style. In order to transfer knowledge from the training to everyday business life, all participants write a letter to themselves at the end of the training in which they record their most important learnings. The letter will be sent to them by HR one month later to refresh their memories of the training.
